Following Up Digital Audio Workshop

Hello Everyone

Once again a big thanks for sharing your day with me this past Tuesday. We covered a great deal in a short period of time. I'd like to open this blog site to offer an opportunity to discuss the workshop, answer any emerging questions and just to hear about how you may be applying some ofthe MP3 recordings, using audacity and setting up podcasts.

I'll ask Alicia to provide a link to the workshop PowerPoint for any of you who would like to review it again.

Kindest regards,

Bill

Thanks for the workshop, it was really great. It was the right amount of push for me to get the gear out again on Friday and play. And I have resolved an issue that has bothered me for a while, to do with access and capacity of our adult students to recording technology. In this digital age the small mp3 players are cute and seductive and I really like them, but many of our students have sight impairments and struggle with the small screens and tiny buttons. We also have a set of Panasonic shoebox cassette recorders, with nice big butttons that are easy for oldies to use etc. The other day I realised we can stay digital and keep using the shoeboxes, by cabling from the tape recorder to the mic jack on the laptop. Best of both worlds and a good reminder to stay with where our students are at in terms of building their capacity to record their languages and build language resources.

Also very interested in access to the Powerpoint as well.

Cheers, Marg.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Not only did I learn heaps, but I gave myself time to do the learning which meant I could 'blog' for myself on the LearnScope site rather than asking others to post for me!!

Hi Bill,
I really enjoyed the day too Bill, thanks for making what could be a complex topic accessible and providing the hands on support that really helps to make technology tangible.

I'll get the PPT to Tanya for circulation and also post it to our webspace on the Desert Knowledge website.

Thanks again, looking forward to doing something together again in August.

Cheers, Alicia.
